Born on January 2, 1934, in Deerfield Township, Waseca (Steele?) County, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Elmer and Amalia "Molly" (Vollbrecht) Minske.
She graduated from Waseca Central High School in 1951. She married Gerald Edwardson Oct. 5, 1952 (divorced). She later married Douglas C. Muetzel on March 6, 1964 in Minneapolis. Darlene worked at various places including E.F. Johnson Co., Lake Shore Inn, and Busy Bee Café all in Waseca and the Minnesota State Hospital in Faribault. While living in California she worked as a clerk-typist with the Iron Workers #433 until retiring. Darlene's hobbies included cooking, bowling, playing darts, and embroidery. Her greatest joy in life was spending as much time as possible with her grandson Dakota. Darlene was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca.
Darlene is survived by two children, Pamela Edwardson of San Jose, CA, and Douglas (Candie) Muetzel of Waseca; five grandchildren, Dakota, Misty, Nicholas, Joey and Regina; father, Elmer Minske of Waseca; one brother, Delbert (Virginia) Minske of Longville; one sister, Karen (Paul) Harguth of Mankato; uncles & aunts, Harold (Leona) Minske of Waseca, Christ (Lucy) Minske of Owatonna, Carl (Violet) Vollbrecht of Morristown; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother and husband.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Thursday, September 2, 2010, at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca, and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 3, 2010, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca, with Rev. Terry Quick officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Blooming Grove Township.
