1st Richard Latimer was an aerial observer from HQ Company, HQ Battalion, 3d MARDIV (Rein) FMF on an O1-G aircraft piloted by 1stLt James Robert Reese that was shot down by ground fire. Both men were killed from multiple injuries and burns caused by the crash.
