He was born in Duffield, son to William S. and Hannah (Peters) Spangler and was a retired farmer.
Mr Spangler was a member of Solomon's Lutheran Church, Grindstone Hill and the Woodsmen of the World.
Surviving are his widow, Carrie (Deardorff) Spangler; daughter, Miss Mary E. at home; two sons, J. Ralph Spangler, of Waynesboro R. D. 2; and Chester D. Spangler, York.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Barbour Funeral Home, Chambersburg, with the Rev. Paul B. Lucas officiating.
Interment will be in Grindstone Hill Cemetery.
