Arnold was a retired executive officer of a major international insurance brokerage firm and he had an accounting background.
Arnold served as a commissioned Naval Officer in 1942, a designated Naval Aviator in 1943 and flew with Fighter Squadron VRF-2 during World War II.
For more than 40 years Arnold was a member of the South Congregational Church in Hartford. He was a Deacon, as well as, served on numerous business and planning committees.
Arnold retired in 1985 and volunteered a lot of his time to different organizations.
Arnold enjoyed the Ham Radio, golfing and bowling. He especially enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Arnold and Dorothy vacationed in Florida to celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary this past February.
Arnold leaves behind his wife Dorothy and four children; Steven A. Dunphy and wife, Jeannine of Suffield, Thomas A. Dunphy and wife, Nora of Berlin, Susan A. Diamond and husband, Leonard of Rocky Hill, and Robert E. Dunphy and wife, Diane of Dunwoody, GA.
Arnold was blessed with ten grandchildren; Alexis and Corrine Dunphy of Suffield, Cheryl and Jeffrey Dunphy of Berlin, Kristina, Robert and Kimberly Diamond of Rocky Hill and Sara, Ryan and Michelle Dunphy of Dunwoody, GA.
He is buried in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.
