Pearl moved from Canada a few days before her 18th birthday to North Dakota where she met Ellesworth. They were married at the Lake of the Woods and had 9 children, 6 of which reached adulthood. Three are buried in the Simcoe Stenkjaer Lutheran Cemetery in North Dakota and one is buried in catholic cemetery at Grove Lake, Minnesota
