William was the son of Lott Walker (Mar 2, 1802 Washington Co. - Feb 3, 1800 Johnson Co.) and Mary Waters (May 16, 1807 - Jan 6, 1882).

William was the first husband of Martha Arline (1840 - ?) whom he married on Aug 4, 1854.

William and Martha had the following two children:
William Thomas Walker (1860 - 1904) who married Louanna Gay (1869 - 1923).
Mary Elizabeth WALKER (1861 - 1930) who married John Thomas RAINES.

William was killed during the Civil War in McDowell County, West Virginia on June 27, 1863. Little is known about William's exploits during the Civil War but the significant activity by the Confederates in West Virginia in 1863 was General John D Imboden was able to control much of the state with his army of 5000 men army which degenerated into confederate guerrilla activity where some areas were burned and plundered. The location of William's remains is unknown.
