Uriah "Scott" Holloway was the seventh child born to Madison Jasper and Nancy Jane Bowen Holloway, on the family farm near Pawnee, Harrison County, Missouri. His siblings were Leonard George, Martha Jane "Mattie", Mary "Luella"--b&d 1880, Orton Harrington, John Walter, Newton Leroy, and James Amlick "Jim" Holloway.

On 13 February 1914, Scott was united in marriage to Ethel Dorothy York, daughter of Rev. George and Sarah Emma Tull York, and also of Harrison County, Missouri. To this union, two children were born, Doris Helen and Ora Eldon "Buck" Holloway. Ethel was nearly due with a third child when she and Scott both became very ill. Ethel died of Spanish Influenza on 10 February 1920. After the death of his wife, and while Scott regained his health, his brother Jim Holloway, Ethel's parents George and Sarah Emma York and their daughter Alice cared for Doris and Buck. Scott's parents were deceased in 1916 & 1919.

Scott married a second time to Lucile Davenport, daughter of Leander and Martha Davenport, on 17 January 1922 in Clarinda, Page County, Iowa. They had 13 children: Donald (b&d 1923), James Leander, Thomas Darell, Alberta Louise, Junior Scott, Luella, Robert Keith, Nora May, Stewart Frederick, Janice Elisa, Gary Lee, and a set of twins that lived a few hours.

Scott farmed mainly in Harrison County, Missouri until 1934, when they moved to Shelby County, Iowa. They farmed near Harlan, until 1941, when they moved to a farm near Kirkman, Iowa. Scott raised cattle, hogs, corn and Holloway Seed Corn.

After Scott retired from farming after 1960, they continued to live on the farm in the summer and in Glendale, Arizona in the winter months. Then, in 1980, they moved into Irwin. Scott died on 30 August, 1983.
