Georgette "Jodi" Porter was the loving mother of three children, Robert "Bob" Porter, Debra Porter (Twardowski) and Steven Porter.

She was an executive secretary for the Federal Aviation Administration, where she worked until she passed. She received many commendation letters, including one from a Rear Admiral of the U.S. Navy, for her strong management, organizational skills and leadership ability.

She was an accomplished knitter and crocheter, who made beautiful clothing and blankets for her friends and family. She loved holidays and always made sure everyone enjoyed them with her!

Jodi never had an unkind word about anyone. She never complained, and took on any task asked of her. She seemed to love everyone she ever worked for--or with. That kind of attitude is rare in our world.

Jodi came from a humble background, growing up on a farm in New Bedford Massachusetts with his sister,

Alice Martin. Her father was a fisherman from Azores, Portugal, and when he needed help, she would help shell scallops for market. Her mother,
Eva Smith came to California in search of a job, leaving the girls on the farm with their grandparents, and eventually she remarried. They sent for the girls when Jodi was 9 years old. Of Jodi, her daughter wrote: She was one of God human links.Through her body and unending love, she gave birth to three children and those three have given birth to seven more, and those seven will engender as well ever continuing the cosmic dance of life.

Mom you wore your scars as roses of courage, of inspiration to preserver in the battle against cancer.

She was married to Gene Porter for 49 years before she lost a gallant battle, with her children at her side.

She's now with our Lord awaiting her family.

**The Scent of the Roses**

Let Fate do her worst; there are relics
of joy.
Bright dreams of the past, which she
cannot destroy;
Which comes in the night-time of sorrow
and care
And bring back the features that joy used to wear.
Long, long be my heart with such
memories filled.
Like the vase in which roses have once
been distilled...
You may break, you my shatter the
vase if you will,
But the scent of the roses will hang
around still.
