About My Father
My father was born on May 17, 1919, in Racine, Wisconsin. He was the second of two sons of Chris and Esther Rasmussen. He grew up in Los Angles and attended Manual Arts High School and the University of Southern California. He met my mother on a blind date arranged by his roommate. Six months later, on September 15, 1945, they got married. The first child to arrive was my sister Kris. Janie arrive four years later. Along came Johnny four years after that. When Johnny started to school five years later, I came along to complete the family. I am Paul. Later, when we grew up, Kris added three grandchildren: Rick, Danielle, and Paul. Danielle added great-granddaughter Ashley in 1992, and great-grandson Dylan in 2000. My dad taught us how to fish, play golf, and cut the grass. We all miss Dad a lot and I know his friends do too. Thank you all for loving my dad.
Mr. Rasmussen is survived by his wife, Joan D. Rasmussen; sons John of Huntington Beach and Paul of Long Beach, CA.; daughters Kristine Cerone of Oceanside and Jane Rasmussen of Crestline, CA; grandchildren Danielle and Paul Cerone; and great-grandchildren Ashley Blair, Dylan and Evan Buckley. Ward's oldest grandson, Rick, died August 4, 1997.
