Claude F. Bateson was born in DeWitt County, son of James F. Bateson and Bertha Lewis Bateson. He married Christina Monkman, who died in 1964. He married Eva Ratliff Scott Feb. 12, 1966. She survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Marjorie Wilkinson; sons, Charles W., John D.and Corwin D.; brother, John; sisters, Margaret Prakel, Dora Belle Weinzierl, Goldie Riggs, and Leota Harney; seventeen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
His parents, one brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
