Fay M. Hays, age 102, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, NM, completed her life's journey on April 5, 2006 and started a new life with her Lord and Savior. Fay was born in a wagon near Bay City, TX on October 3, 1903. She was the youngest of four children and part of the family traveling comedy/musical show which performed throughout Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Fay's contributions to the show included walking the tight wire, contortionist, playing the snare drums, singing, and dancing. They homesteaded near Blanchard, NM in the early 1900s. She married Frank Manlove and had two sons, Earl and Bobby. In 1927, Fay married Fred Hays in Las Vegas, had six children, and lived on a ranch near Bernal until 1956 when they moved to Albuquerque. There she worked as a school cafeteria manager. Fay and Fred owned a mobile home park in Albuquerque. They retired and moved to Edgewood, NM around 1970. After Fay's husband of 48 years passed away in 1976, she moved to Las Vegas where she lived until her death. Fay's home was Grand Central Station to family and friends because of the love and joy she had for each person who walked through her door. Fay dearly loved people. Fay was preceded in death by her husband: Fred Hays; children: Earl and Bobby Manlove and George (Teet) Hays. Fay is survived by her children: Howard and wife, Linda Hays of Pulaski, TN, Barbara Fraze of Independence, MO, Ardath and husband, Ole Dale of Santa Fe, NM, Geney Nix of Sapello, NM, Gordon and wife, Donna Kay Hays of Las Vegas, NM; grandchildren: Billy and wife, Kathy Hays of Grand Junction, CO, Jane Ellen and husband, Marty Mallette of Las Vegas, NM, Alan Hays and Sandi of Huntsville, AL, Rick and wife, Tonda Dale of Las Vegas, NM, Dana Twyman and Curtis of Albuquerque, Jason and wife, Lisa Dale of Las Vegas, NM, Melissa and husband, Michael Rodriguez of Ames, IA, Russell Napps of Independence, MO, Sandi Hall and Ed of Mayer, AZ, Robert Nix of Mart, TX, Randy and wife, Laurie Hays of Las Vegas, NM; great-grandchildren: Marti Bott, Jennifer and Cody Hays, Tesha Egger, Shea Hays, Jacob, Clinton, and Leeanna Dale, Cody, Jolynn, and Camille Sena, Trinity, Kelsey, and Jamin Dale, Megan, Brooke, Bryson, and Maddi Rodriguez, Dustin and Brandie Napps, Elizabeth, Cheyenne, and Kaleb Nix, Derek Camacho, and Taylor Hays: great-great-grandchildren: Jasmine Sena and Breanna Napps. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church, 300 Baca Avenue, Las Vegas, NM with Pastor Herb Gage officiating. Interment will follow at the Masonic Cemetery with the following serving as casket bearers: Billy Hays, Alan Hays, Rick Dale, Jason Dale, Randy Hays, and Robert Nix. Serving as honorary bearers will be all great-grandchildren. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rogers Mortuary, Las Vegas, NM, 1-800-479-3511 or 505-425-3511.
