Roy Dowell, 82, died Aug. 21, 1982 in St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born and reared in Brown County, coming to Lafayette in 1927; he had been making his home with a son, William D. Dowell of 7624 E CR 200 S, near Dayton. He was a retired farmer. He was married in 1923 at Nashville, IN, to Myrtle Iva Griffin, who survives with the son, William, and three other sons, Albert L., Donald W., and Delbert R. Dowell, all of Lafayette; eight daughters, Helen (Mrs. Charles) Berninger, Thelma (Mrs. Everette) Venable, Mae (Mrs. Donald) Clouse, Mary (Mrs. Lamont) Rithie, Kate (Mrs. James) Wright, Judy (Mrs. James) Riddle, all of Lafayette; Carol (Mrs. Arnie) Nangle of Romney, and Linda (Mrs. Arthur) Bilyeu of Rossville; two brothers, Wilson and Delmas Dowell; and two sisters, Mrs. Iva Kelp and Mrs. Alice Roberts, all of Brown County. Service Aug. 25 in Hippensteel Chapel, Rev. Benjamin E. Antle officiating. Internment Montmorenci Cemetery.
