Lucille M. Baker, 93, Manhattan, KS passed away Thursday, June 12, 2008 in the St. Joseph Village, Manhattan.

She was born August 15, 1914 at Sedan, KS, the daughter of Clara Nelson. Due to her mother's death at an early age, Lucille was raised by her grandmother, Florence Washington.

She came to Manhattan in the late 1920's and was united in marriage to Jesse Edward Baker on August 31, 1931 at Wamego. He preceded her in death in 1980.

She was a member of the Church of Deliverance, Junction City and served as the communion stewardess for many years.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her mother; grandmother; two sons, Jesse Edward Baker, Jr. and Wayne Emerson Baker; and a daughter, Lorena Elizabeth Brockington.

Lucille is survived by six children, Ellen Griffin, Los Angeles, CA, LaVerne L. Baker, Manhattan, Carol Wiley, Harbor City, CA, David Baker, Muskogee, OK, Wendell Baker, Colorado Springs, CO, and Ray Lynn Baker, Wiley, TX; 23 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00, Friday, June 20, 2008 at the Church of Deliverance, 1524 N. Jefferson, Junction City with funeral services to follow. Burial will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery, Manhattan.
