Murphy Benoit of Vinton Dies
Lake Charles American Press, Saturday, January 12, 1957
VINTON. Funeral services for Murphy Benoit, 74, will be held here at 2 p.m. today at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nelson Thistrump, with Rev. H. H. Howell, pastor of the First Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in Nibletts Bluff cemetery in charge of Burke funeral home of Vinton.
Mr Benoit, who lived here with his daughter at 1120 Vincent Street, was born in Lake Charles and was a retired school bus driver. He died Friday morning of a heart attack.
Survivors, in addition to his daughter, include one son, Robert Benoit of Vinton, six brothers, Eustis, Julian, Ramey and Preston Benoit, all of Vinton, Rayne Benoit of West Lake, and Willy [Willie] Benoit of Hackberry [should be Vinton]; four sisters, Mrs. James Parish of Vinton, Mrs. Ira Hadddock of New Iberia, Mrs. A.J. Sallier of Lake Charles, and Mrs. George Bedinger of Lovington, N.M.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
