Charles Baker was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps. He was wounded during World War II and was a turret gunner while flying over Germany. He returned home in 1945 and had attended Texas Tech Collge during the spring semester and summer of 1946. He had lived in the Loving Community until his induction into the US Army Air Corps on 22 December 1942. He received a medical discharge in October 1945.

Services were held at the Loving Church of Christ officiated by C.A. Collins, the local minister.
