Death of Mrs. Butcher
On Monday morning, April 20, 1908, at about 2 o'clock, occurred the death of Mrs. John Butcher at her home in Conesville. Her maiden name was Miss Lavina Blake; she was born in Virginia on Feb. 14, 1834, being at the time of her death 74 years, two months and six days of age. She was united in marriage to John Wesley Butcher, at Columbus City, IA., on May 9m 1852, just lacking a few days of their 56th wedding anniversary. To this union were born nine children, two of whom are dead. The surviving children are: Mrs. Jane Reeder, Mrs. Emma Thornton, Mrs. Louisa Bennett, and John Butcher, Jr. all of this place, and Mrs. Ada George or Washington, IA., and Mrs. Mattie Patterson of Titus. She is also survived by 37 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two sisters and one brother. Mr. and Mrs. Butcher have lived in Conesville for the past 36 years.
The funeral took place Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock at the M. E. church, conducted by Rev. Boyce of the Christian church, with interment in the Conesville Cemetery.
