Lewis Stone Adams was born near the town of Carrollton, Pickens County, Alabama. He is the son of Robert Sanford Adams and Nancy Elizabeth Seymer.

Lewis was a farmer most of his life in Alabama until he moved to Richmond, Texas in the late 19th century to go into business with his brothers James Joshua (Josh) and Jenks Seymour. When he saved enough money he moved out of his parent's house on N. Second St. and married Maggie Bryan in 1906. She was also from Pickens County AL. In 1906 they bought a house down the street on S. Second St. and Main St.

Lewis and his two brothers ran "The Three Brothers Saloon" on Calhoun St. at the corner of N. Second St., however their wives, who were members of the Baptist Church, made them get out of the business. Lewis went on to run a country store on SH 359 north of the current Pecan Grove subdivision. He gave too much credit to customers during the depression of the 1930s and went out of business. Later he became a house painter and decorator with his brother Josh. Lewis was an easy-going man like his father Sanford and his brother Josh.

Lewis and Maggie had three children: Bryan Lewis Adams, Vivian Adams Priesmuth, and Lloyd Acker Adams. In late 1940s Lewis was up in years and not in good health. His daughter Vivian moved Lewis and Maggie to Houston to live in a small house on their property. Lewis died in Houston, Harris Co. Texas in 1952. Maggie lived until 1961. Lewis and Maggie are buried in same plot with his sons and daughter in Morton Cemetery, Richmond, Texas.
