PVT. GEORGE V. ARTZ, the son of Rev. William Artz and Sarah Trexler Artz enlisted in Co B "Cabarrus Black Boys", 20th NC Infantry Regiment at age 21 on 29 Mar 1861. He was captured 1 Oct 1862 and later exchanged. He is the brother of Pvt. William P. Artz who was killed at Gettysburg during the first day of battle on 1 Jul 1863. William was also in Co B, 20th NC.
