WINNSBORO — Funeral services were at 10 a.m. today in the chapel of First National Funeral Home here for John E. Barton, 89, of Gilbert.

The Rev. Ramon Warren officiated, with burial in Brown Cemetery near Winnfield.

Mr. Barton died Saturday afternoon at Franklin Parish Hospital here following a lengthy illness.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ida McLaughlin of Winnsboro and Mrs. Iva Flowers of Gilbert; four sons, Morgan Barton of Baton Rouge, Elmer Barton of Monroe, Johnnie Barton and Thomas Barton, both of Gilbert; three sisters, Mrs. Rosie Coburn of Shreveport, Mrs. Lena Shumake of Winnfield and Mrs. Olive Barton of Bastrop; two brothers, Bud Barton and Mack Barton, both of Winnfield; 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
