MERLE LEVI (BILL) BOYER, 84, of RD 2 Seneca, a Pennzoil employee for 45 years, died at 12:25 a.m. Thursday February 6, 1992, in Northwest Medical Center at Oil City. Born February 7, 1907, in Ashland Township, Clarion County, he was a son of the late John Charles Fremont Boyer and Mariah Exley Boyer. He lived in this area all his life. He married the former Ursula Elizabeth (Peg) Solinger on July 19, 1929, in Van. She preceded him in death on September 1, 1991. Mr. Boyer worked as a unit operator at the Pennzoil Refinery in Rouseville for 45 years, retiring in March 1972. Mr. Boyer was a member of the Seneca United Methodist Church and the Odd Fellows Lodge. Surviving are three sons, Donald C. Boyer of Horsehead, NY, Frank D. Boyer of Orangevale, CA and John C. Boyer of Seneca; two daughters, Mrs. Helen L. McKenzie of Rosemount, MN and Mrs. Doris L. McKenzie of Corning, NY; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Carrie Friggle of Broken Arrow, OK and Dorothy Bell of Corsica. His parents; two brothers, Clem and Clyde Boyer; and six sisters, Nellie Hinkle, Zina Shreffler, Margie Weeter, Blanche Boyer, Gladys Neubauer and Mildred Rogers preceded him in death. Services were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday February 8, in the Jonathan H. Hutchinson Funeral Home in Oil City. The Rev. R. Lee Karns, pastor of Strattanville United Methodist Church, officiated. Interment was in Brandon Cemetery. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Seneca United Methodist Church.
