Funeral Rites
Will Be Friday

Funeral services for Joe P. Carnahan who died May 23 at 8 p.m. following a three week's critical illness will be held Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the New Liberty Methodist church with Rev. J. L. Davis and Rev. R. F. Dennis officiating.

Mr. Carnahan had been in failing health for the past two or three years but his condition did not become grave until about three weeks ago.

He was born in Springfield, Mo., February 8, 1870 and was married on December 4, 1892 to Miss Laura Ivester at Jacksboro, Tex. Mr. and Mrs. Carnahan came to western Oklahoma in 1898 and filed on a farm near Murphy's Gin. They had made their home in that community since. He had been a member of the New Liberty Methodist church for many years.

He is survived by his wife, four daughters, Mrs. Ruthie Passmore and Mrs. Jewell Robertson both of Sayre, Mrs. Ruby Elliott of Putnam, and Mrs. Effie Baumhaft of Oklahoma City and two sons, Herbie and Wilbur who reside near Sayre. Other survivors are two sisters, Mrs. J. W. Ivester of Sayre and Mrs. Leo Wilsey of Clinton and four brothers, Morgan of Bakersfield, Calif., Otto and Frank of Odessa, Tex., and Sanford of Miami, Tex. Twelve grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by three children.

Bearers for the rites will be Walter Kiener, Percy McClain, Doyle Thetford, Orlan Matthews, Rogers Rutherford and Jim Hinds.

Committal will be in the Lone Oak cemetery with the Seroggins Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
