*Family records indicate John's middle name as David; however, the death certificate of his daughter, Alberta, shows his middle name as Dixon. There is also the Hester Family Tree on Ancestry.com that shows his name as John Dickson Peel. The transcribed Bible records show his name only as John D Peel. Considering the letter mentioned below, written by his granddaughter - Eva Peel Finn, I tend to go with David as his middle name as records are often wrong and family usually has the best knowledge.

Note: Monday, Aug 5, 2013 - Received correspondence from Marian Ham Miller, a Great Granddaughter of John D Pool, regarding his probably burial location. It follows:
The only clue we have came from a letter written by my Aunt Eva (Peel) Finn, on 29 Dec. 1968,
"John David Peel probably is buried in Hearne, TX. There is a cemetery plot there that once belonged to the Peels with one person buried on it. Aunt Ella (Peel) Whatley (1871-1946) inherited the plot and her daughter sold it after her death."
This is our only clue as to his possible burial place. I've never had a chance to go there and check to see if there is any more information on this.
