Glenn was born in Kansas, son of Theodore P. THOMPSON and Mary L. SEMPLE Thompson. Glenn was the 6th of seven children. He was a candy maker, by trade and grew up in Garnett, KS. He moved to Los Angeles, CA, removing to Santa Barbara in 1910 when he bought a confectionery store at 521 State Street. He married Maude L. BASS on July 27, 1910. They ran their candy store and malt shop as a popular business in Santa Barbara for 45 years, closing in 1955. They had three children, the first daughter died in birth. The second child was their son Kenneth, and third child, a daughter Marie who died when she was 24 from the effects of polio. Glenn's wife Maude died in 1954
