Bertram was the second child of George Beers and Mary Lovenia Jones Beers. The tombstone date of birth shows 1877, but pension papers signed by George testify that Bertram was born in 1866. But, in a letter written by Lovenia to Lucy Beers, dated 20 Jan. 1865, she writes, "Tell Grandma Beers she got to be Grandma again on Christmas...we have not named the boy yet..." which would put Bertram's birth 1864. Certainly a discrepency of information, unless letter date is wrong.

There is not much information available regarding Bertram, but George's pension application, 1898, states that Bertram was an invalid his whole life. He was not married and is buried with his parents.
