In 1882, at the age of 24 - for both of them - Peter Jorgensen and Christine Marie Hojen were married. They moved to Skagen where they lived for the next twenty-two years, and were blessed with two sons and two daughters.
In 1885, after the birth of their first child (Anna), Peter bought their first house and a small plot of land in Skagen. As his children grew bigger (the last was born in 1893), he bought a fine, much larger house in 1897, the one now known as Tuxen's Villa. In 1899, after living in her new home for only two years, Christine Marie died; at the age of 41.
