DIED,
At her residence, near Madison Springs, Madison county, Ga, on the 17th of March, 1882, after long suffering from cancer on the head, which she bore with christian fortitude, Mrs. Sarah Jane Veal, wife of Alexander Veal, in the 61st year of her age.
Sister Veal united with the Baptist church in early life, and was a consistent member of the same until the day of her death. She discharged her duty faithfully in all the relations of life. As wife, mother, friend, she was obedient, affectionate, kind and sincere. She remarked to the writer and others, who visited her in her illness, that although it was her Father's will for her to linger and suffer so long before He took her hence, yet she was resigned to His will, and desired most of all to glorify Him in her afflictions and in her death, as she had endeavored to do in he [sic] lifetime. The writer feels that in the death of sister Veal the community has lost one of its best friends, the children's kind, loving mother, the husband a devoted wife and the church at Shiloh one of its best members; but we firmly believe, from her pious walk, hes [sic] Godly conversation and her devotedness as a church member to the cause of Christ in life, that our loss is her eternal gain. Gravesite Details
According to Genealogy sources on the net, Sarah Jane (Godfrey) Veal and her husband, Alexander, are buried in the 'Old' Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. There are citations about this couple in the Madison Co Cemetery Book that presume such.
