JAMES WYATT DIES IN TUCSON

Well-Known Attorney Succumbs After Long Illness at Home.

James R. (Cliff), Wyatt, well-known Tucson attorney, died at 12:30 p.m. yesterday at his home, 2134 East Seventh street, following an extended illness. He was 44 years old.

He was a member of the legal staff of the Tucson Title Insurance company.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Isabel Wyatt; one daughter, Gloria; his mother, Mrs. Margaret Wyatt, and one brother, L. Edgar Wyatt Jr., all of Tucson, and a brother, Maj. W. L. Wyatt, serving with the 11th Anti-Aircraft Artillery in Austria.

Honor Student

Wyatt graduated from Tucson senior high school in 1924, and from the University of Arizona law school in 1936. He mad a brilliant record as a law student, and passed the Arizona bar examination with the highest grade in his class.

He was a member of the Catalina Methodist church, the Phi Phi Alpha social fraternity, the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity, and Phi Kappa Phi honorary scholastic fraternity.

Although he fought a severe illness for 20 years, Mr. Wyatt was always ready tp help others and was regarded as a favorite colleague among Tucson's attorneys.

Joined Law Firm

Wyatt was admitted to the Arizona state bar in March, 1936, and became a member of the local law firm of Hummel, Hummel and Wyatt. In 1942 he was appointed director of the Tucson Defense Rental Area, and remained in this position until 1944. At that time he became an attorney for the Tucson Title Insurance company.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Bring Funeral Home, in charge of Dr. R. S. Beal and Rev. Maurice G. Ballenger. Rev. Earle E. Matteson will sing.

The body will be cremated.
