Allen-Henry R. Allen. 73, 4146 Compton Ave., died at 6:10 a.m. Friday, March 13, 1970 in Rockford Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Born Feb. 5, 1897 in Green County, Wisconsin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Allen. Lived 60 years in Rockford, coming here from Wisconsin. Married to the former Jonnie Wells in Woodstock, March 31, 1949. Employed as superintendent by J. I. Case Co. for 47 Years. He retired nine years ago. Member of Halsted Baptist Church. Survivors include: his widow, Johnnie; five sons, Jack, Simi, Calif.; Clifford, Cleveland, Ohio; LaVerne, Glendale, Calif.; Jerry, Rockford; and Harrry R. Jr., Rockford; one Stepson, Larry Wells, Rockford; two daughters, Mrs. Roy Flink, Rockford, and Mrs. Carol Beaumont, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Joe Himbert, Fort Lauderdale, Fla; three brothers, Lester, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Elmer, Sacramento, Calif., and Raymond Rockford; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Ellery, killed in action in Korea, Feb. 14, 1951.
Services at 1 p.m. Monday in Wilbur-Christianson Funeral Home, 925 3rd Ave. with the Rev. Crawley Bridges, pastor of Halsted Baptist Church, officiating. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
