David Samuel Hoffman is listed on a list of Births and Baptisms of The First Lutheran Church, Westmoreland County, Greensburg, Pennyslvania as the son of Peter Hoffman and Magdalena. He was born 8--6-1806 and baptized 1--2-1812. His brothers, Samuel, Christian, Peter, and Jacob were also baptized on that date.
On April 20, 1834 he married Sarah Ann White in Green township, Wayne County, Ohio.

In Feb 1848 David Huffman was appointed class leader of North Class in place of Luman Richards.

During the pastorate of J. L. Durant the trustees of the Church, Daniel Canfield, John Milligan, Joseph Palmer, and David Huffman, remodled & rebuilt the old church, adding a cupola and bell. It is at present a good substantial church thirty-five by forty feet.
In Sept. 1873 Lewis S. Lawton was appointed class leader of north class after the death of David Huffman.
