Helen Irene Benell, 95 of Valparaiso, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at the VNA Hospice Center.
She was born May 8, 1915 in Shoals, Martin County, Indiana the daughter of Harvey and Maude (Dawson) Sipes.
Helen was a member of the First Christian Church and loved her garden and her flowers.
Her husband Herschell Benell preceded her in death in 1989.
Surviving is her daughter Ann (Jack) Jorden of Celestine, IN, a grandson Barry (Angela) Jorden of Indianapolis, a brother Richard (Roberta) Sipes of Terre Haute, a sister Emilie Carver of Indianapolis, a brother-in-law Harry Smith of Conifer, CO. and numerous nieces and nephews.
A daughter Lois J. Benell, her parents, a brother Albert Sipes and 2 sisters Mary Tucker and June Smith preceded her in death.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 4, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Bartholomew Funeral Home, Rev. Jim Mitchell, Pastor Dave Blue and Rev. Victoria Ubben officiating.
Burial will be held at a later date at Mt. Union Cemetery in Shoals, Indiana.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 3, 2010, 1-5 PM at Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe St. Valparaiso.
