Charles Sheldon was born December 8th, 1851 and died July 13, 1936 at the home of his sister, Mrs. Alice Allen, after a period of illness extending over several months. He was married to Miss Margaret Oldfield November 27, 1877, Their early married life was spent on a farm on Millards Prairie and about the year 1883 they took up their residence in Elroy where he resided until his death. He was engaged in mason work for a good many years and later on he was one of the Rural Mail carriers for a number of years. He was a very active member of the Masonic Lodge here since 1890. He was Master of the Blue Lodge several times, also High Priest of the Royal Arch Masons and he had the honor of being the oldest Blue Lodge Master in the State three years ago. He was also a member of the Eastern Star. Masonic services were held in the Temple Thursday afternoon July 16th conducted by Mr. D. Telfer of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. and assisted by Rev. Sterling of Plymouth Congregational Church. He was laid at rest, by the side of his wife in the City cemetery.
