MRS. HELT DIES AT ADVANCED AGE

Mrs. Mary J. Helt, died Thursday afternoon about 3 o'clock, at the home of her son E.E. Helt, just north of the Center church, northwest of Clinton. In the death of Mrs. Helt another pioneer is removed. Almost the entire life of Mrs. Helt has been spent in the neighborhood where she died.

Mrs. Helt was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paleman Jacks. She was married to Eli Helt, who died about 35 years ago. Several children were born to this union, but only two sons, E.E. Helt and Edgar P. Helt survive. E.E. Helt was formerly county superintendent and later principal at the Fairview schools but this year is teaching in Texas. Edgar P. Helt is in Winfield, Kansas.

Mrs. Helt was born May 3, 1836 and her 80 years have been well spent. She was a hard working woman and as kind hearted and good a woman as ever breathed. For five or six years she has been an invalid and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. E.E. Helt has cared for her, she having made her home with her son E.E. for about 15 years.

A few years ago Mrs. Helt became mentally unbalanced but was given the best of care at her son's home. The funeral services will be held at Center church, Sunday afternoon. Interment will be at the Salem cemetery.

There is not a better know woman in this vicinity than Mrs. Helt who was known to most everyone as "Aunt Mary Helt".
