Julia Patricia Azure, 76, of Great Falls, died of natural causes Sunday at her home.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today and 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, both at Croxford Funeral Home. Her service is 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, followed by a reception at 4210 Lower River Road. Cremation will follow the service and burial will take place at a later date.
Julia is survived by her sons, David Damon, Greg Azure and Kim Azure, all of Great Falls; a stepson, Robert (Starr) Azure of Great Falls; daughters Laurie Azure (Kevin) Klayman, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Renee Azure (Neal Parks) and Julie (Gordon) Mitchell of Great Falls; a special nephew, Albert Ledeau Jr. of Spokane; a brother, John (Vivian) Gladeau of Columbia Falls, sisters Evon (Dan) Berhens of Kalispell, Diane Mattingly and Lynn (Jeff) Chase of Columbia Falls, Shirley Gladeau of Oregon, Evelyn Gladeau of Great Falls, and Elenor (Warren) Currie of Coos Bay, Ore.; 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Out of all those grandchildren, Julia had a set of twins whom she loved dearly - especially her little "choppers!" She was able to celebrate with the family on April 10, 2010, the day before, their birthday on April 11, 2010, and the same day she went to cele-brate with the Lord. She was more like a mother to her siblings than a sister. We will all miss her very much!
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Cora, Doris and Sharon; and a grandson, Kyle.
Julia was born in Havre, Mont., on Oct. 14, 1933. She was raised and educated in Havre, and moved to Great Falls, where she lived the rest of her life. She married Alec J. Azure in Great Falls; they later divorced.
She worked at Opportunities, Inc., and also worked as a crossing guard for Great Falls Public Schools. She was also employed as a secretary at Biltrite Foundations for many years.
She enjoyed camping, fishing, cooking, eating and playing practical jokes. She loved her grandchildren and family, and visiting with friends. She loved going to powwows.
There was no better mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. We all love you, Mom and Grandmother!
"Goodbyes are not forever, goodbyes are not the end; they simply mean I'll miss you until we're together again." Love, Your family.
