Captured/killed

He was born about 1836 in Prussia to Conrad b. 1812 and Dorothea (Rissling) Bock b. 1813, and arrived in Gillespie County about 1854.

I have not found either of his parents' graves. It is possible his father remarried. There is a Conrad Bock marring a Caroline Grobe 7 sept 1871 in Gillespie County. Mrs. Grobe's husband Heinrich was killed by Indians in 1862 and she had 8 children. It is believed Conrad Bock Sr died in 1876. So, if he married the widow Grobe, it wasn't a long marriage. She is buried with Heinrich Grobe in the Der Stadt Friedhof Cemetery in Fredericksburg.

Known siblings of Conrad Bock Jr are:
Dorothea Bock Danz b. 1837/9
Minna Bock b. 1853
Auguste Bock Ottmers b. 1857

Conrad Jr married Pauline Flick on 5 May 1860 in Gillespie County. Her brother Herman Flick was also captured and hanged by Confederates.

In 1860 Conrad and Pauline Bock are living next door to his parents in Caldwellshill, Gillespie county, Texas.

Bock survived the Nueces battle, but was captured (along with Fritz Tays) on 23 August 1862 near Boerne, Texas. They were both hanged the next day about a mile and a half north of Boerne near Cibolo Creek. Conrad's widow remarried in 10 Mar 1864 to Johann Wilhelm Immel.

Conrad and Pauline Bock had a daughter, Johanna "Hanchen", born 24 February 1861.

A Fredericksburg, Texas newspaper article dated 2006 states that before his death, Conrad's coat and German military identification papers belonging to his father were given to a man named Jacoby who had decided to leave the Nueces group and return to Fredericksburg. Jacoby made it back with the coat and military papers. This is very likely Peter Jacob Jacoby, Jr.
