Roland Eugene Caruthers, son of Mrs. Maude E. and the late Richard A. Caruthers was born August 9, 1908 in Osborne County, Kansas and passed away March 16, 1942 at Blanchester, Ohio at the age of 33yrs 7mo. and 7 days. He went with his sister to Oklahoma in 1928 and was united in marriage Nov. 17, 1932 to Miss Marie Smith of Stroud, Oklahoma. To this union was born one son, Harold Lynn. He farmed in Oklahoma until October of 1939. He then moved to Ohio where he resided until his death.

Left to mourn the departure of this loving husband and father are his wife, Mrs. Marie Caruthers and son Harold Lynn, his mother, Mrs. Maude Caruthers, six brothers; Thomas of Crawford, KS, Merle, Ross, Elwyn and Dick of Waldo KS, Ray of Lamar, MO and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Tanner of Manhattan, KS and Mrs. Mae Mathes of Marquette, KS, besides a number of nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was laid to rest in the Bristow Cemetery beside his father and two infant brothers who precede him in death.(Taken from the hand written biography included in his funeral book)
