One of 14 children born to Daniel Killis Berry and Mary Elizabeth Estes Berry. Mary was born in Medford, Oregon. She was raised on the family ranch in Tipton, Tulare County and married Benjamin Franklin McCullough in 1884/1885, raising his son John and daughter Mary by a previous marriage, while having a family of 14 of her own children. She lived in both Tulare and Kern City (old town Bakersfield) where her husband worked for the railroad. Mary is buried next to her husband. Survived by Eulalia Blalock, Frankie Karpe, Minnie Veldora Mastin Morgan, Mida Mae Garrett, Matilda (Tillie) Marie Barton, Alta Naomi Kinkade, Eva Leonora Plumley, Leo Franklin McCullough and Emma Jane Martinto.

Mary and 'Jake' buried 5 infants in unmarked graves in the Tulare Cemetery.
