Benjamin Franklin 'Jake' McCullough was born in Iowa. He married Emma Bickford and had 2 children, James and Mary in Iowa before Emma's untimely death in 1884 in Tulare, California. After 1880 John and Emma migrated to Tulare, California along with John's brother Jackson A. McCullough and sisters, Sarah Ann Boone, Martha Jane Lee, Mary Elizabeth Whitson and Margaret Lucretia Atkinson.

Jake is survived by his wife Mary Jane and 11 of his children: James R. and Mary Jane Bishop #122744212 by a previous marriage, and Eulalia Blalock, Frankie Karpe, Minnie Veldora Mastin Morgan, Mida Mae Garrett, Matilda (Tillie) Marie Barton, Alta Naomi Kinkade, Eva Leonora Plumley, Leo Franklin McCullough and Emma Jane Martinto.

PIONEER DIEDS IN KERN CITY
BAKERSFIELD, Oct. 12. --Benjamin Franklin McCullough, 78, resident of Bakersfield for 29 years and of California for more than 45 years, dided this morning at a local hospital, following a long illness.

The Bakersfield pioneer had been a member of the Odd Fellows lodge for 50 years, was a past noble grand of the organization, and was a charter member of the Tulare lodge

Mr. McCullough is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary J. McCullough;
nine daughters, Mesdames Eulalia Blalock, Frankie M. Karpe, Mida Garrett, Marie Finn, Emma Mays and Mary Bishop, all of Bakersfield; Mrs. Veldora Morgan of Owensmouth; Mrs. Naomi A. Kinkade of Maricopa, and Mrs. Eva Plumley of Bellflower;
two sons, Leo F. McCullough of Bakersfield and James McCullough of San Luis Obispo;
and two sisters, Mrs. Mary E. Whitson of Tulare and Mrs. Maggie Atkinson of Fresno.
