Arch J. Area , 101, Wamego, died March 7, 2000 at Valley Vista Good Samaritan Center in Wamego.
He was born Oct. 14, 1898 in Westmoreland to George Bush and Mary Cummins Area. He married Doris Anderson on Dec. 16, 1925, in Topeka. He and his wife lived in the Sales community until 1941 when they moved to Olsburg. The couple moved to Wamego in 1966. Mr. Area was a retired farmer. His body was cremated.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Dale Area , Westmoreland; two grandchildren, Roxann Zoeller, Westmoreland, and Ronda Doperalski, Eagle, Idaho; five great-grandchildren, Nicole Walter, Lisa Zabel, Emily Zoeller, and Quentin and Logan Doperalski; and two great-great grandchildren, Mariah Walter and Austin DeWeese.
Mr. Area was preceded in death by an infant daughter in 1929; a son, Lawrence in 1937; five brothers and one sister.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Olsburg City Cemetery in Olsburg with Rev. David Miller officiating. Memorials can be made to Wamego Methodist Church.
