Richard Earl Bauer was born on April 16, 1923 to Mr. and Mrs. Chris Bauer. He attended Kittanning High School and was of the Protestant faith. On August 14, 1942 he married Joan L Sponeybarger of Huntingdon in single ring service officiated by Rev Steven L Flickinger. The ceremony took place in the historical Century Evangelical and Reformed Church in Winchester Virginia.
On October 25, 1943 he joined the U S Marines and served in WWII until discharged in August 23, 1944. He was awarded the Am, Rib., WWII Vic. Med.
Upon his return from war, he and his wife raised 4 children: Sandra, Richard Jr, Christian and Gary.
He passed away on May 20, 1987 and was interred at Kittanning Cemetery.
