Samuel Bang, Sr. 12/13/1926 ~ 9/7/2010 On Tuesday September 7, 2010, Samuel Bang age 83, surrounded by his family, joined his eternal sweetheart, after a nine month earthly separation. Following a two month illness, he passed from this earthly existence to his eternal home.He was born on December 13, 1926 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the 10th child of Christian, Sr. and Rosa Kiefer Bang. The family owned a grocery store where he started working at a young age. Here he acquired the value of a strong work ethic. He was drafted into the Navy during his senior year of high school. Upon his return he married the love of his life, Lois Charlotte Tidwell in 1946 and they were sealed in the Manti Temple. Together they raised a close family of four children. Through his commitment to excellence and his outgoing personality he never met a stranger. Because of his talents, he earned many prestigious awards as a salesman for General Foods. Each promotion sent the family to a new area. They left Cincinnati in 1954 and went to Louisville, Kentucky. His great success as National Sales Manager with General Foods sent him to Huntington, W.VA, Parma Heights, Ohio, Boston, MA, Evansville, IN and Whiteplains, NY. He retired from General Foods after 27 years. He became Vice President of Gilster-Marylee in Chester, IL. After 13 years he retired again and moved to Mesa, Arizona then onto Holladay and South Jordan UT. He developed a great testimony of Jesus Christ at an early age. He served as District President, as Branch President, High Councilman, High Priest Group Leader and myriad of other callings. He was a valiant home teacher. His life was dedicated to his family, the gospel of Jesus Christ, and serving others. He is survived by three brothers, four children, Sam Jr. (Cathy), Vicki Terry (Richard), Debbie Shumard and Roger, 14 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his eternal companion, (Lois), his parents, and grandson, (Michael Bang). All friends and family are welcome to attend his viewing on Saturday, September 11th an hour before the funeral services which will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the River Ridge 7th Ward LDS Chapel, 10200 South 1300 West in South Jordan, UT.
