Mr. Roy Manuel Adams Sr., 73, of Cobblestone Lane died Friday morning, June 14, 2002, at his home in King. Mr. Adams was born in Stokes County on July 22, 1928, to the late John Quincy and Bessie Elizabeth Gibson Adams. He was a retired farmer and a member of Friendly Chapel Church in Pilot Mountain. Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Adams Butner of Charlotte, Barbara and Charles Kiger of East Bend, Liz and Freddie Mabe of Walnut Cove, and Gail and Andy Douglas of Fosters, Ala.; a son and daughter-in-law, Roy Manuel and Brenda Adams Jr. of Pinnacle; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise McHone of Walnut Cove, and Betty and Odell Alley and Barbara Jean and Fountain Manring, all of Danbury; and a brother and sister-in-law, Gaylon and Novella Adams of Westfield. Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his wife, Roxie Mae Gunter Adams; three sisters; and two brothers. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2002, at Friendly Chapel Church in Pilot Mountain by Brother Don Collins and Brother Terry Adams. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Adams is at Cox-Needham Funeral Home and Chapel in Pilot Mountain and will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. The family will receive friends at from 7 to 9 Sunday evening, June 16, 2002, at the funeral home and at other times at Mr. Adams' home, 201 Cobblestone Lane, King.
