Marvin Elias Ashby

Marvin Elias Ashby was born September 8, 1930 to Elias and Marjorie Cook Ashby. Born and raised in Benjamin, Utah, he learned the value of hard work and great friends. He excelled as an athlete, but baseball was his passion. After graduating from Spanish Fork High School in 1949, he joined the Army serving this country as part of the 82nd Airbourne. After trying his hand at various occupations, he made a career of installing fences for American Fence in Southern California, working into his seventies.

He married Carol Reynolds in 1953, they were later divorced. He married Bonny L. Franklin, who preceded him in death. He and Carol had three children, Brian, DeAnn, and Kent.

He is survived by his son Kent Ashby, six grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, two sisters, Maretta (Lynn) Koyle, and LaVetta Nelson. He was preceded in death by his wife, children; Brian and DeAnn, his parents, five brothers, and one sister.

A simple graveside service will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery, 420 South 400 East, Spanish Fork, Utah. Family and friends may gather prior to the service at Walker Funeral Home, 187 S. Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah at 11:00 a.m.
