M.C. Buckalew Dies at Noon

FARMER IN COUNTY FOR FIVE YEARS LEAVES MANY  RELATIVES  HERE
M.C. Buckalew, 46, died at a local sanitarium today at 12 o'clock following an attack of typhoid fever lasting over six weeks.  Funeral services with Dr. E.F. Lyon, officiating.  Interment will be made in East View Cemetery, under the auspices of the local Odd Fellows Lodge, of which he was a member.

Mr. Buckalew moved to Vernon 5 years ago from Rusk, and has been farming in this county most of the time since coming here.  He was born in Cass County in 1878.
He is survived by his wife and six daughters, Mrs. Viola Dunn of Iowa Park, Mrs. Clara Landrum of Olney, Mrs. Lilla Moffett of Olney, Mrs. Mary Wininger of Vernon, Miss Florence Buckalew of Vernon, Miss Elizabeth Buckalew of Vernon, and five sons.  Jess Davis Buckalew of Granite City, Illinois; Floyd Buckalew of  Iowa Park, Ernie Buckalew of Vernon; Marion Buckalew of Vernon, and John Buckalew of Vernon.

The deceased leaves two brothers and four sisters, Ira Buckalew of Coolidge, Minsey of Grapeland, Mrs. Mattie Wiswell of Grapeland, Mrs. Cora Timms of Hedley, Mrs. Gertrude Hendricks of Rusk, Mrs. Hattie Cook of Grapeland.  Two step daughters, Mrs. Pauline Fisher and Miss Katherine Rogers, both of Vernon, were at Mr. Buckalew's bedside when death came.

Typhoid Victim Buried in Eastview Wednesday

  Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at East View Cemetery at 2:30 o'clock for M.C. Buckalew, who died Tuesday noon following a six  weeks's  illness of typhoid fever.  The burial was under the auspice of the local Odd Fellow lodge of which Mr. Buckalew was a member and Rev. R.B. Cox, pastor of the Lockett Baptist Church had charge of the services.  Mr. Buckalew had been a member of the Baptist church since childhood.

   Pall bearers were selected from members of the local Odd Fellow Lodge.  They were E.E. Coleman, G.D. Souris, W.D. Pouncey, Floyd Coleman, J.A. Carney, H.C. Thomas.
