Frank's birth date was shown as Aug 19, 1897 in the California Death Index, but 1896 on his WWI draft registration card.

Frank did not marry, and had no children. In 1920 Frank lived with his elder brother Oscar's family in Tulare Co., California.

In the 1930 census there was a 31 year-old Frank L. Betts who was single and working in Long Beach, California as an oil well rig builder. The census shows both his parents born in Iowa, which Gottlieb was, but Julia was not. However, his youngest sister's husband was also in Long Beach at this same time, in this line of work.

DEATH TAKES FRANK BETTS

Frank L. Betts, born near Porterville 43 years ago, passed away yesterday at his home west of this city after a long period of failing health. He had many friends in this community.

Funeral services have not yet been arranged. The Loyd-Frietzsche funeral parlor will be in charge and interment will be in the family plot of the Tulare cemetery.

Surviving Mr. Betts are his father, G.W. Betts of this city; four sisters, Mrs. Catherine Cloer, Mrs. Grace Clark and Mrs. Ada Harris of Porterville and Mrs. Ora Rea of Hanford, and a brother, Oscar E. Betts of San Juan Bautista.
