He is the son of William Cassiday and Jane McPherson. The oldest of four children. His siblings are: Lewis, Elizabeth J. and John Cassiday. A Civil War Veteran:Co. G. 122 Ohio Reg., Inf.. He married Sarah Ann Snyder in 1872 in Ohio. They had 6 children. His wife died in 1900. He died at the age of 58 yrs old.
OBITUARY
George Cassidy, aged 59 year, 5 months, 19 days, died in Sherman Saturday, of liver and intestinal trouble. He leaves five sons and one daughter, Elmer, Leonard, William, Thomas and Mavord, and Mrs. Ed Nash. The body was interred in Sherman township cemetery. Mr. Cassidy was a veteran of the civil war.
