Emma was the first child of Pollyann Robinson, her father's second wife. She was Uriah J. Ashley's 11th child. Emma lived from before the civil war and nearly through WWII. She had nine children. Her grave has not been located.

She married Richard Bledsoe Stanley in Rockcastle, Kentucky on 18 Mar 1874. They had four children.

She was receiving her late husband Theodore Hugh Adams' civil war pension, and that record has a note, "Deceased May 12 1944".

She was survived by 8 of her children and 65 grandchildren.
