Archibald Ladley Linn was born on October 15th, 1802 in New York City, New York. He died on October 10th, 1857 at 54 years old in Schenectady, New York. He was married on January 31st, 1825 to Miss Mary Teneyck McClelland, in Schenectady, NY. He was a member of the class of 1820 at Union College, Schenectady, NY. He studied law and was admitted to the bar and commenced a practice in Schenectady, NY. He was the county judge of Schenectady County from January 17th, 1840 until February 9th, 1845. He was elected as a Whig Party member to the Twenty-Seventh Congress from March 4th, 1841 until March 3rd, 1843. He was chairman of the Committee on Public Expenditures(Twenty-Seventh Congress). He was a member of the State assembly in 1844. He helped with the 1840 Presidential Campaign of William Henry Harrison.
