In Loving Memory
Marie was born on April 15, 1918, in Tryon, Oklahoma, in a family of nine girls to Allen and Dora Rainger where she learned the value of hard work and disciplined faith.
Upon leaving Tryon, the Rainger family moved to Fallis, Oklahoma, where Marie attended Douglass School, District 43, under the leadership of William J. Brown, principal. She also attended Wellston's Dunbar High School until she moved to Oklahoma City. Later she enrolled in OIC and obtained her G.E.D. Marie also completed electronic training at OIC which led to her job at Altec Lansing where she worked until she retired at the age of 65.
Very early in her childhood, she joined the Lane Chapel Colored Methodist Episcopal Church in Fallis Oklahoma. Upon moving to Oklahoma City she united with Allen Chapel A.M.E under the leadership of Rev. G. W. Pointer and later Rev. M. L. Vickers. Marie relocated her family to Spencer, Oklahoma, and moved her membership to Allen's sister church, Sherman Chapel A.M.E.. She served as Head Usher, Trustee, Stewardess, Missionary President, choir member, church treasurer, meals on wheels contact, State Conference delegate and was involved in every aspect of the church wherever she was needed. Marie returned to fellowship with Allen Chapel AME with her sisters Dorothy Pitts and Ila Biser as well as many other family members.
Marie was a mother; homemaker; expert seamstress; bowler and basketball player. But her favorite passions were fishing and working crossword puzzles. Marie always had her fishing equipment in the trunk of her car and no body of water was safe from her expertise fishing. She instilled that same love of fishing into some of her children as well as grandchildren.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents Allen and Dora Rainger, sisters Myrtle, Minnie, Clementine, Charlotte, Mattie, Dorothy and Ila, and sons Earnest Leon and William Clifford. Left here to celebrate her Homegoing are daughters VanDora Palmer, Shirley King (Gene), Vicki Lewis (Donnie), Vanessa Level (Walter), Sheila Rainger (Mac), and Rachel Ann West (Terry), and sons Stanley Ramsey (Maria), Kenneth Ramsey (Linda) and Deloris Bryson (daughter-in-law). She also leaves to mourn her passing a beloved sister Mrs. Eulila Davis, and special nephew Earl Williams, Sr., 27 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 27 great great-grandchildren as well as hosts of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
