Theresa Anna Bertha (Lemke) Aiton, 98, died Saturday, January 14, 2012 in Sacramento, California.

Theresa was born June 14, 1913 in Alexandria to Edward and Amanda (Schmidt) Lemke. She was baptized, confirmed and attended Zion Parochial School.

On October 26, 1941 Theresa was united in marriage to Robert W. Aiton. To this union the couple was blessed with a daughter, Bonnie. The couple lived in Alexandria by Lake Cowdry. She worked at Olson's Red Owl. Robert died in 1963 and Theresa then moved out to California to be with her daughter. She decided to continue to live out there and sold her lake home in 1978. She worked for the Department of Air Force and retired after working for 20 years.

She was very active, helping in the church and ladies groups and getting together with family and friends.

She is survived by her niece, Janet (Rudy) Beilke of Sauk Centre and nephew, Rollin (Arlene) Schuhmacher of Nelson; cousins, great-nieces and nephews; and special friends from California, Mary Thompson and Nancy Sartor.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Amanda; husband, Robert; daughter, Bonnie; and sister, Jessie Schuhmacher.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, January 25 at Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria with the Rev. Terry Finnern officiating. Interment was held at Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria. Casket bearers were Bradley Schuhmacher, Mitch Zarbok, Roger Schuhmacher, Mike Beilke, David Beilke and Mark Seppanen.
