Caroline was the daughter of Wright Scoggins (1773-1838) of Greene Co., Georgia. She married William Henry Snead in Greene County on 24 November 1836, and following her father's death in 1838, the couple moved to Randolph (now Quitman) County, where Caroline died on 17 February 1844. William Henry Snead then remarried on 25 August 1844 to Harriet, daughter of David and Anna Godwin. He and Caroline Scoggins were parents of two children: Martha Ann (m. John J. Huggins) and William R.
